CENIBRA Institute s the construction of cultural spaces in the interior of Minas Gerais
Sponsored by CENIBRA under the Federal Cultural Incentive Act, the Contains Culture project consists of a cultural space built in a public area based on the concept of sustainable, economic architecture through the adaptation of two containers into an air-conditioned room for cultural activities. The purpose is to promote Brazilian culture in towns in the interior of Minas Gerais, fostering cultural production and attendance through dedicated spaces. Periquito was the first town chosen, in 2017, followed by Ipaba in the subsequent year.
The space consists of a screening room for films/documentaries and a place to promote literary soirées according to a free-of-charge weekly program during ten months. After implementation, the equipment will be donated to the municipality, becoming a local cultural and educational facility to be used and managed according to the local Education and Culture department’s guidelines and needs. The local istrations, in turn, will select and hire a person to work in the cultural center (whose salary will be borne by the project) and assign an area for the Cultural Center installation, including electric power supply arrangements.
