CENIBRA’s Sustainability Report highlights biodiversity 323n3l

Pulp production combined with sustainability: CENIBRA is the world’s first forestry player to be granted the LIFE Certification, attesting to its firm commitment to biodiversity.

Unprecedented certification, sustainable management, and emblematic species attest to a leading role in biodiversity conservation and management transparency.

Featuring outstanding biodiversity, CENIBRA invites the public at large to celebrate life and the future through its sustainable forests. This is the core message of the recently released 2024 Sustainability Report, which reaffirms the company’s commitment to environmental preservation, innovation, and sustainable development.

One of the Report’s highlights is the focus on emblematic trees that have been identified on CENIBRA’s land, such as the imposing 50-meter-tall pink jequitibá recently found at Macedonia Farm. Illustrations of native species, such as yellow ipê, juçara palm, brazilwood, and angico, stress the key role of conservation and environmental education as fundamental pillars of the Company’s operations.

Leading role in biodiversity

CENIBRA became the first player in the world’s forestry sector to be granted the LIFE Business and Biodiversity Certification, which is founded on quantitative and qualitative assessments of the organization’s performance in biodiversity conservation. This achievement legitimizes the Company’s actions and makes it a global benchmark in sustainable practices.

Furthermore, the company voluntarily committed to reporting biodiversity information based on the new GRI 101 – Biodiversity 2024 booklet, ahead of the 2026 mandatory requirement. This proactive stance strengthens CENIBRA’s transparency and maturity in biodiversity management.

Vision of the future

The report also addresses the advances in the implementation of the BioSustentação strategic plan, which now comprises 60 goals across five pillars: environmental, social, governance, innovation, and economics. In its first year, 15.94% of the goals set for 2033 were achieved, demonstrating the effectiveness of the strategy.

The plan’s purposes includes the promotion of sustainable forest management through the expansion of the native vegetation plots connectivity and development of a biodiversity management program. The creation of wildlife corridors and the reintroduction of endangered species, such as the red-billed curassow, are some noteworthy examples of these actions.

Other highlights

In 2024, CENIBRA was recognized with the National Quality of Life Award in the Silver Seal category and improved its score in the EcoVadis assessment, which culminated in the gold ranking by this global sustainable performance platform.
